Who we are

At The Kettle On, we’re dedicated to sourcing award-winning coffees and pushing the boundaries of specialty coffee at every location. By working closely with local roasters, we bring you the most innovative and exciting brews, ensuring every cup meets our high standards of quality, community, and consistency. But we’re more than just great coffee—we’re a hub for culture and connection. From Just Add Oil, our dive into motorcycle adventure documentaries, to Bottomless Beats, our monthly DJ series, we create spaces where coffee and culture collide. We’ve even shut down the streets of Escondido for The Grand-AM, an amateur skate competition judged by Team USA pros. Stay connected on socials or check our events page to see what’s coming next—because at The Kettle On, there’s always something brewing beyond the coffee.

Where we started

Givino’s STory

I started bussing tables in high school and quickly fell in love with the hospitality industry. I studied entrepreneurship in college and worked in a specialty cafe with the long-term goal of opening and operating a coffee shop of my own. I launched my first business while in school, Compass Shapes, shaping custom surfboards and selling apparel. I was able to build a profitable business in the first 2 months and scaled the clothing side… as I quickly learned, the return on apparel was an easier lift than on a board.

After a short stint in Australia, learning about specialty coffee, I moved to San Diego. The goal was to immediately open a place of my own. I was quickly humbled when I realized no one wanted to give a 22-year-old with no experience money to start something in a notoriously risky industry. Turning back to the drawing board, I helped launch a restaurant in Kensington, gaining valuable experience with the freedom to build out their coffee program. With Covid shaking up hospitality, I pivoted and landed in the tech industry, working for a fast-growing startup. I headed and built out a team of managers across two countries, totaling 1,200 team members. The combination of eclectic jobs would prove pivotal in providing a foundation to open and grow my concepts.

After a few years in tech, downsizing forced my hand, and I decided to try to open my own place. This time with more experience and a better understanding of how to do so. I set my sights on acquiring an existing cafe and building a brand from there. I wanted a location where I could build community, something that was struggling (otherwise, what would my value add be), and, of course, something budget-friendly. I found Kettle Coffee and Tea in Escondido and never turned back. We quickly pivoted and began to improve on the existing foundation, growing 71% in the first 9 months. The name change to Kettle On Grand helps signify the shift to our core values of quality, community, and consistency. Within the first 17 months of acquiring the first location, we expanded opening our second flagship shop, Kettle On Main, in Fallbrook CA. This sparked the inspiration to continue to grow The Kettle On brand and bring great coffee to more communities!
